The other members of the W.S. Holland Band include veteran players Ron Haney (guitar/vocals), Alan “Gator” Wheeler (keyboards), and Jim Reece (bass guitar/vocals). Collectively, the three represent over 120 years of music performing, recording and producing experience.

The trio of Tennessee born and bred musicians are steeped heavily in the music heritage that characterizes the mid-south portion of the United States and that plays such a part in American music history and development. They come by their musical roots naturally and reflect pure influence from the area’s blues, rock, and country styles.

The W.S. Holland Band personifies original southern music in their performance and musicianship. A  review of the bands performance by a festival promoter stated, “While (W.S.) Holland’s resume’ speaks for itself, we can confirm that he has assembled a group of seasoned musicians for this band that delivers a high-energy show guaranteed to bring the house down.  It was a rare treat to work with a group that exhibits such high levels of musicianship and professionalism”.

In 1960 Holland was tapped by Johnny Cash and became what turned out to be the only drummer Cash ever had over his stellar career. W.S. played on hundreds of Cash songs including classics such as Ring of Fire, Folsom Prison Blues, I Walk the Line, Boy Named Sue, Sunday Morning Coming Down.

When Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis all gathered at famed Sun Recording Studio in Memphis one December day in 1956 it was W.S. “Fluke” Holland that played drums on the historic session that became known as the Million Dollar Quartet recordings.
